Zhujiang Natural Gas Power Project Put into Operation

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Phase I of the Gas Combined Circulation Power Generation Project by Guangzhou Zhujiang Natural Gas Power Company was completed and put into operation on May 15, 2007.

The Completion Ceremony for Phase I was held in Nansha, Guangzhou, Guandong province, the home of southern China’s industrial and commercial hub region. Guangzhou Zhujiang Natural Gas’s Phase I Gas Combined Circulation Power Generation Project is one of the projects supported by a fund collected from the capital placement by GDIHC in 2004. The project uses natural gas imported from Australia, and is an important energy infrastructure supported by the state and an important part of the natural gas utilization project of Guangdong.

The project is jointly invested by Guangzhou Holding (70%) and Guangdong Yuedian Group Company, Limited (30%); total investment is $337 million. The project received officially approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on December 14, 2002. Construction officially started on December 28, 2004. Unit 1 and 2 were put into commercial operation on December 24, 2006 and March 14, 2007.

The completion of the Zhujiang Natural Gas Power Generation Phase I Project will be favorable to alleviate the power shortage in the Guangzhou region, and good for the optimization of power structure in Guangzhou, as well as the improvement of environment quality in the Pearl River Delta Region.
