Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company (ZTPC) (Hangzhou, Zhejiang), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), completed the construction of the stator for Combustion Turbine No. 2 at Zhejiang Zheneng Zhenhai Natural Gas Thermal Power Company Limited's (Ningbo, Zhejiang) gas-fired Zhenhai Cogeneration Project on December 5, 2013, according to an announcement from the CEEC on December 6. The stator is in the steam turbine room of Unit 2.
The stator for Combustion Turbine No. 2 is 10 meters long, 4.3 meters wide and 4.5 meters high, with a total weight of 173 metric tons. It was built with the help of a 400-ton Caterpillar (NYSE:CAT) crane. Prior to the construction, the ZTPC Zhenhai Project Office prepared and completed the transfer of the working conditions, as well as the location for the Caterpillar crane.
As part of Ningbo Zhenhai Power Center and a key project listed in the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15) for the Zhejiang province, the project is located at Xinhongkou Reclaimed Area, in the Zhenhai Chemical Industry Zone of Ningbo City. The project is furnished with three gas-fired, combined-cycle units, each comprising a 300-megawatt (MW), 9FA combustion turbine, a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), and an extraction condensing steam turbine in "1+1+1" multiple shaft layout. It will be invested by Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group Company Limited (Hangzhou, Zhejiang) (60%), with joint investment from Ningbo Electric Power Development Company Limited (Ningbo, Zhejiang) (35%) and Ningbo Zhenhai Investment Company Limited (Ningbo, Zhejiang) (5%). The total investment in the project is about $720 million.
According to the schedule, the project will begin operations in June 2014. Upon completion, it will be able to provide concentrated heat/steam supply for the Zhenhai Chemical Industry Zone and supply about 5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the grid, which will further alleviate the power shortage and improve the flexibility and reliability of power dispatching in the Zhejiang Grid.
