Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company (ZTPC) (Hangzhou, Zhejiang), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), kicked off the erection of the first steel beam for the waste heat boiler of Zhejiang Zheneng Zhenhai Natural Gas Thermal Power Company Limited's (Ningbo, Zhejiang) Zhenhai gas-fired cogeneration project on April 25, 2013. The erection of main works of the project has kicked off, according to an announcement from the CEEC on April 27.
As part of the Zheneng Ningbo Zhenhai Power Center, the gas-fired cogeneration project, which is located at the Xinhongkou Reclaimed Area in the Zhenhai Chemical Industry Zone of Ningbo City, is jointly invested by Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group Company Limited (Hangzhou, Zhejiang) (60%), Ningbo Electric Power Development Company Limited (Ningbo, Zhejiang) (35%) and Ningbo Zhenhai Investment Company Limited (Ningbo) (5%). According to the schedule, the project will be furnished with three gas-fired, combined-cycle units each comprised of a 300-megawatt (MW) 9FA combustion turbine, a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) and an extraction condensing steam turbine in "1+1+1" multiple shaft layout, with a total investment of about $720 million. Of which, the output of the combustion turbine generator will be about 250 MW; the output of two extraction condensing steam turbine generators will be about 100 MW each; and the output of the pressure steam turbine generator will be about 50 MW.
The project also will be furnished with two 110-ton-per-hour, gas-fired fast startup boilers; external heat supply pipelines; a 220-kilovolt substation; a natural pressure regulation station; and other common and support facilities.
According to the schedule, the first two combined-cycle units will begin operation by the end of this year, and the third unit will begin operations in the first half of 2014. Upon completion, the project will be able to achieve concentrated heat/steam supply for Zhenhai Chemical Industry Zone, together with the existing Jiufeng Thermal Power Plant and Zhenhai Power Plant in the region, and will further alleviate the power shortage, optimize the power source structure, and improve the flexibility and reliability of power dispatching in the Zhejiang grid.
