Texas Industries Incorporated (NYSE:TXI ) (Dallas, Texas) has approval for a $350 million modernization project at the company's cement manufacturing plant in Oro Grande, California. The project will involve replacing an antiquated 50-year-old, 1.3-million-ton-per-year production line and seven kilns, with a new state-of-the-art 2.3-million-ton-per-year line, thus increasing production by 75%. The new line will include installing a new kiln, raw mill, finishing mills, clinker cooler, storage dome, preheater tower, and associated production equipment.
Industrialinfo.com has been tracking the project since 1996, when Riverside Cement Company owned the plant. The plant was bought by TXI in 1997, and the project has been on hold since 1999.
