The gas line is set to receive two trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves. The total production capacity of the project will reach 37 trillion cubic feet, and the gas that will feed Gasoducto Andino del Sur will come from blocks 88 and 57, which are operated by Petrobras.
Odebrecht could begin the construction of the pipeline, which will be operated by Kuntur, in 2011. The pipeline will run from Malvinas (Cuzco, Perú) and will reach to Juliaca (Puno, Perú), Matarani (Arequipa, Perú) and Ilo in Moquegua. The pipeline also will have distribution lines to Quillabamba, Cuzco, Puno, Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna.
Odebrecht officials said that environmental approvals will be ready in a few months, and that final commercial and purchasing agreements are being discussed. The construction of the pipeline probably will begin in the first or second quarter of 2011, and it could take two years to be completed.
