Siouxland Ethanol Plans Groundbreaking Today on $76 Million Fuel Ethanol Plant in Nebraska

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Farmer cooperative owned Siouxland Ethanol LLC (Lincoln, Nebraska) has scheduled a groundbreaking ceremony today for a new $76 million fuel ethanol plant near Jackson, Nebraska. Plans call for the creation of a nameplate 50 million gallons per year fuel ethanol plant that will convert about 18 million bushels of corn annually into the renewable fuel. The plant will also produce an estimated 270,000 tons per year of dried distiller’s grains, a by-product of ethanol production used as a feed additive.

The company selected ICM, Incorporated (Colwich, Kansas) to provide the ethanol process technology and plant construction, while the construction management will be handled by Fagen, Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota). Construction is expected to take about twelve to fourteen months to complete, with the target date for completion being December 2006. Once the facility becomes operational, it’s expected to create about 35 full time jobs.

The official groundbreaking ceremony will take place today, Friday, November 4, 2005, at the plant site, which is roughly 1.5 miles west of Jackson on Highway 20.

When construction starts, Siouxland will be the fourth ethanol plant currently under construction in Nebraska. Seven additional plants are currently underdevelopment in the state and eleven plants are currently operational and three of those are expanding. If all of the proposed plants are built, Nebraska could become the second largest ethanol producing state behind Iowa.
