Air Products Prepares to Begin Construction for New Hydrogen Plant in Ontario

Air Products and Chemicals Incorporated (APCI) (NYSE:APD) (Allentown, Pennsylvania) is planning for construction to begin in March 2005 on its new hydrogen plant to be located adjacent to Shell Canada Products' Corunna, Ontario, petroleum refinery. The engineering and technology for this new plant is being provided by alliance partner Technip USA (NYSE:TKP ) (San Dimas, California) under a long-term agreement to use Technip's technology for development of new hydrogen capacity, globally. The new plant will use steam methane reforming technology and be capable of producing approximately 80 million standard cubic feet per day of hydrogen for use in the refinery plus small amounts for the merchant market.

Technip is assisting APCI with the assembly of RFQ's and bid documents that are currently being solicited and expects the plant to become commercially operational in the second quarter of 2006.
