Written by Richard Finlayson, Senior International Editor for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Amec Foster Wheeler (NYSE:AMFW) (London, England) has won the front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the $3.5 billion Ras Markaz crude oil park project, to be built on Oman's Wusta coast.
The facility will be designed to hold about 200 million barrels of crude oil and will serve as an alternative to Oman's only crude export terminal, located at Mina Al Fahal in Muscat. Oman Tank Terminal Company is listed as the project owner.
The first phase of the project, which is expected to be operational by 2018, will have a capacity of about 25 million barrels.
