Amitech America Builds Manufacturing Facility In Louisiana

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Amitech America, Limited (Munroe Falls, Ohio), part of the Amiantit Group (Damman, Saudi Arabia), began construction May 1, 2002, on a 100,000 sqft, six-building, manufacturing site in Zachary, Louisiana, near Baton Rouge. General contractor for the project is Nottingham Construction (Warminster, Pennsylvania). According to a site representative, bids are still being accepted for electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and interior finishing. Phase 2 of the project (equipment procurement) is targeted for September 2002. Construction is scheduled for completion in January 2003.

At the present time, Amitech imports and distributes Flowtite piping from the manufacturer, Flowtite Rohre Deutschland (Mochau, Germany), as well as Meyer Polycrete piping from Meyer Rohr und Schacht GmbH (Lueneburg, Germany). When the new plant is finished, Amitech will manufacture both Meyer Polycrete piping and Flowtite piping in separate facilities at the new site under license from their respective German patentees. This will be Amitech's first manufacturing venture in the United States.

The Amiantit Group is a leading industrial organization engaged in the manufacture of highly-engineered piping systems, insulation, and rubber products, supplying advanced pipe technologies, and managing its water management business. It serves the needs of municipal, industrial, agricultural, and energy markets, supporting the infrastructure development globally.

Amitech America provides complete solutions for infrastructure projects. Its Flowtite Technology Piping Systems and Meyer Polycrete Pipe & Structures combine to provide wide-ranging and cost-competitive solutions for water and sewer projects, industrial piping applications, hydroelectric and electricity generation installations, and irrigation systems.

The Flowtite Group is an international leader in glass-reinforced pipe (GRP) technology, with over a quarter century of materials technology and design experience in fluid handling systems. Amiantit Group acquired Flowtite, formerly a subsidiary of Owens Corning USA, in March 2001.

Meyer Rohr & Schacht GmbH, founded in 1978, has developed innovative ideas and high-quality, corrosion-proof sewage pipes and manhole covers of polymer concrete at its manufacturing plant in Stendal, Germany.
