Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Amitech America, Limited (Munroe Falls, Ohio), part of the Amiantit Group (Damman, Saudi Arabia), began construction May 1, 2002, on a 100,000 sqft, six-building, manufacturing site in Zachary, Louisiana, near Baton Rouge. General contractor for the project is Nottingham Construction (Warminster, Pennsylvania). According to a site representative, bids are still being accepted for electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and interior finishing. Phase 2 of the project (equipment procurement) is targeted for September 2002. Construction is scheduled for completion in January 2003.
At the present time, Amitech imports and distributes Flowtite piping from the manufacturer, Flowtite Rohre Deutschland (Mochau, Germany), as well as Meyer Polycrete piping from Meyer Rohr und Schacht GmbH (Lueneburg, Germany). When the new plant is finished, Amitech will manufacture both Meyer Polycrete piping and Flowtite piping in separate facilities at the new site under license from their respective German patentees. This will be Amitech's first manufacturing venture in the United States.
