Researched by Industrial Info Resources Australia (Perth, Australia)--A joint venture between Atlas Iron Limited (ASX:AGO) and Altura Mining (ASX:AJM) (Perth, Western Australia) is reviewing tenders from multiple companies in a bid to secure a major contractor for its Mount Webber direct shipping ore (DSO) mine and processing plant. In the process of securing contractors for mining, crushing and screening services, Atlas has contracted the services of Decmil Group Limited (ASX:DCL) (Perth) to supply the accommodation requirements for the proposed operation.
Decmil is a progressive design, building and civil engineering company that has an impressive portfolio of accommodation projects, including the 4,006-person Gorgon Construction Village, which has a combined value for Decmil of $270 million, and the 1,320-room Warrawanda Village for BHP Billiton, which is valued at $122 million. Decmil also will supply engineering, planning, construction and management (EPCM) facilities.
The company also has been contracted to complete the $131 million Wheatstone LNG Project Fly Camp, which has been designed for 958 people; the $94 million Buffel Park Construction Village for BHP, which has been designed for 1,500 people; and a $67 million rail camp for Fortescue Metals Group, which has been designed for 714 people.
Decmil recently acquired Eastcoast Development Engineering Pty Limited in an opportunity to continue its involvement in the oil and gas sector. Decmil will be supplying services to an expanded geographical horizon and will increase its capabilities to the specialist fabrication of high pressure.
Atlas Iron holds an impressive iron ore project list that will benefit greatly from the support of Decmil. At present, Decmil is being contracted to supply a 400-man camp that is estimated to be worth approximately $35 million.
