Bangladesh's Pharmaceutical Exports Up 25%, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Bangladesh, like its neighbor India, is seeing an increase in its exports of pharmaceutical formulations. While India posted $19.2 billion worth of related exports in 2018-19, which was roughly 11% growth, Bangladesh's exports soared 25.6% to $130 million from the previous year.

In fiscal terms, the export-value is not very significant for Bangladesh. But its pharmaceutical sector could increase its contribution to the country's economy, which is among the five fastest-growing in the world.

According to the Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceuticals Industries (BAPI), Bangladesh exports pharmaceutical products to 144 countries and caters to 97% of the domestic market. Click here for a list of projects, and see map below.
