In South Carolina, Schaeffler Group USA Incorporated (Fort Mill, South Carolina) is performing a $36.5 million expansion at its thrust bearings manufacturing plant. The company is constructing an additional 64,200-square-foot corporate building and 38,600 square foot expansion of its current manufacturing facility. Construction began in the fall of 2016 and is anticipated for completion by the summer of 2017.
Also in South Carolina, Koyo Corporation of USA is performing a $10 million upgrade of equipment at its Orangeburg bearing plant, installing furnace, lathe, grinder and mill additions. Construction began in the summer of 2015 and is anticipated for completion in the fall of 2020. In Walterboro, a $4.5 million roller bearings manufacturing plant renovation is occurring at the existing 48,000-square-foot manufacturing building, and the company is installing new tapered roller bearing production lines. Construction began late in 2015 and is anticipated for completion in early 2017.
In New Jersey, a $2 million bearings manufacturing plant upgrade in Thorofare will consist of installing computer numerical control (CNC) machining equipment and systems to increase operation capacity. Construction is anticipated to begin in spring of 2017 and anticipated for completion in the fall of 2017.
In Flowery, Georgia, a $9 million branch roller and ball bearing manufacturing plant upgrade will entail installing high speed rotating machinery and power grease lubrication equipment. Construction is anticipated to begin in spring of 2017 and anticipated for completion in the fall of 2017.
In Altavista, Virginia, a $3 million wheel hub bearing manufacturing plant equipment addition will consist of installing two natural gas-fired batch integral quench carburizing furnaces to modernize the plant. Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2017 and anticipated for completion in the fall of 2017.
