Beech-Nut's New Complex Well Under Way in Amsterdam, New York

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Construction is in full swing at Beech-Nut Nutrition Corporation's (Latham, New York) new state-of-the-art facility in the Florida Industrial Park in Amsterdam, New York. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed this fall. Overall project completion is slated for late spring 2010 and will include corporate headquarters, a manufacturing facility, research and development facilities, and a distribution center. The project will retain 356 jobs and create 135 new jobs.

The overall investment for the new facility is estimated to be $124 million and includes a 650,000-square-foot facility that will facilitate the company to consolidate plant operations from Canajoharie and Fort Plain, New York, to the new site to further upgrade infant-nutrition production technology. Beech-nut will also move its corporate headquarters--temporarily located in Latham--from St. Louis, Missouri, to Amsterdam. Equipment and machinery relocation, as part of Phase II, is expected to begin late this year.

Design-build firm Facility Group (Smyrna, Georgia) was retained by Beech-Nut to provide design and construction services for the project. Mechanical contractor Rozell Industries Incorporated (Queensbury, New York) is providing relocation and installation of manufacturing equipment.
