Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Boiler No. 1 for Guodian Harbin Thermal Power Company Limited's (Harbin, Heilongjiang) 700-megawatt (MW) cogeneration project at the Pingnan Power Plant was ignited on November 6, 2013. The boiler since has been operating stably, according to an announcement from China Guodian Corporation (Beijing) on November 12.
The unit adopted an ion ignition system. Prior to the ignition, the Operations Department had conducted a series of on-spot training sessions, covering ion ignition; dust removing; recycled water control butterfly valves; the micro electro-hydraulic control system (MEH); and fault simulation. The training ensured ignition.
The Guodian Harbin Pingnan Power Plant, which is located at the southeastern corner of Pingfang District in Harbin City, has a total planned capacity of four 300-MW, coal-fired units. The project is invested by Guodian Northeast Power Company Limited (Changchun, Jilin).
In March 2010, the Phase I cogeneration project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). According to the approval, two 350-MW, coal-fired cogeneration units, together with associated heat supply pipeline works, will be built. With the adoption of integrated chimney and scrubber technology, the project is furnished with flue gas desulfurization; nitrogen oxide controls based on selective catalyst reduction (SCR); and a high-efficieny, bag-type, dust-removing system.
The engineering and main construction contracts for the project were awarded to Heilongjiang Electric Power Design Institute (Harbin, Heilongjiang) and Heilongjiang No.1 Thermal Power Construction Corporation (Harbin, Heilongjiang), respectively.
Site preparation for the project kicked off in February 2011. The flushing of the pipelines by steam had been completed on November 18, 2013. The unit is ready to kick off overall startup testing soon.
According to the schedule, the project will begin operations by the end of this year. Upon completion, the project will replace 165 small, cool-fired boilers scattered in its service area. It will be able to provide heating service for an area of 15 million square meters and to supply 200 tons per hour of steam for industrial users.
