British Columbia Windfarm Begins Operations

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 180-megawatt (MW) Meikle Windfarm, which is located in Peace Region, British Columbia, began commercial operations this month.

The windfarm uses 35 General Electric (NYSE:GE) 3.2-103 and 26 General Electric 2.75-120 wind turbines, and will sell the energy produced under a 25-year power purchase agreement. The energy generated will be enough to power more than 54,000 homes.

Construction of the windfarm was completed by Borea Construction (Quebec City, Quebec). Pattern Energy Group (Houston, Texas) is the owner and operator of the windfarm. The project had a total investment value of $368 million. Construction began in May 2015.
