British Columbia's Ashlu Creek Hydroelectric Project to Go Online in 2009

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Ashlu Creek, a hydroelectric project in British Columbia, has been under construction for the past two years under the partnership of Ledcor CMI Limited (Vancouver, British Columbia) and Innergex Renewable Energy Incorporated (TSX:INE) (Longueuil, Quebec). Ashlu Creek has a nameplate capacity of 49.8 megawatts (MW) and is approximately two-thirds complete.

The project is a run-of-river hydroelectric project, in which a portion of the water in the creek is diverted to three 10.6-MW Francis turbines to produce electricity. The turbines are scheduled to be installed between January and May of 2009. The project is expected to be fully operational and online by June 2009.

Innergex has a 66 2/3% interest in Ashlu Creek, while Ledcor owns the remaining 33 1/3% interest in the Ashlu Creek Project.
