Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Caiman Energy LLC (Dallas, Texas) is planning to construct a new natural gas processing plant in West Virginia to process natural gas from the Marcellus Shale formation. The plant is to be near Cameron, West Virginia, in Marshall County, and will have the capacity to process 120 million cubic feet per day of natural gas. The plant will include a cryogenic unit and CO2-removal facilities.
Caiman Energy has been constructing infrastructure and renting temporary compressor units to facilitate gathering services to recently signed producers, such as Chief Oil & Gas LLC (Dallas) and AB Resources Incorporated (Brecksville, Ohio), until the main processing plant can be constructed.
Caiman Energy plans to begin construction on the new processing plant in the fall of 2010, with a completion date targeted for early 2011. The new plant will replace many of the temporary compression and refrigeration facilities that Caiman Energy has placed piecemeal into service in the region, and could well be the first of several processing plants and gathering lines that the company plans to construct in the main Marcellus Fairway to provide processing services to the growing numbers natural gas producers in the region.
The plant is one of 15 new processing plants, or expansions to existing processing plants and central field compressor stations, that Industrial Info is tracking in the Marcellus Shale in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York. These 15 projects total $571 million in proposed capital expenditures and carry an average project value of approximately $38 million.
