Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Investor-owned ethanol start-up Castle Rock Renewable Fuels LLC (Necedah, Wisconsin) loaded 12 rail cars last week and shipped the first batch of fuel ethanol from its new plant in Necedah. The plant officially started production on February 2, 2008, and is currently tweaking production equipment and working out the bugs.
The 50 million-gallon-per-year plant will process approximately 19 million bushels of corn annually and generate 160,000 tons of dried distillers grains per year. The cost to build the plant is estimated in the $100 million-plus range.
The plant, which employs 35 people, is located in Central Wisconsin in Juneau County roughly 125 miles northwest of Milwaukee.
Ethanol production in Wisconsin continues to rise, and with the Castle Rock plant now operational, eight plants are running in the Badger State with a total production capacity of 458 million gallons annually.
