CEEC Wins Bid for China Resources Power's Cangnan Ultra-supercritical Coal-fired Power Plant

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Anhui Electric Power Construction No.1 Company (AEPC1) (Hefei, Anhui), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), won the Bid B for the erection of the main works in China Resources Power (Wenzhou) Company Limited's (Wenzhou, Zhejiang) Cangnan ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant, the CEEC announced on April 1, 2012.

According to the Notice of the Bid Awarding, AEPC1 will be responsible for the erection and commissioning of Unit 2, as well as its associated system and equipment in China Resources Cangnan Power Plant.

China Resources Cangnan Power Plant is located at the coast area of Bacao town, Cangnan county, in the south of the Zhejiang province. The power plant has a total planned capacity of 6,000 megawatts (MW). Two 1,000-MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired units will be built in Phase I with a total investment of about $1.2 billion. Phase I of the power plant received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission on December 19, 2011.

Prior to awarding this bid, China Resources Power had awarded engineering, construction and the supply of main equipment to Zhejiang Electric Power Design Institute (Hangzhou, Zhejiang), the AEPC1 and Dongfang Electric Corporation Limited (Chengdu, Sichuan), respectively. Pre-stage preparation work such as site leveling began in the second half of 2011.

As reported, a 2.68-kilometer wave-proof dike has been built for the project. Construction of the mechanical work will begin this month. According to the schedule, the project will begin operations in early 2014. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply about 10 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to China East Power Grid via the connection of 500-kilovolt transmission lines.
