Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC (The Woodlands, Texas) has made a final investment decision to construct a new C3 splitter unit in Baytown, Texas, to produce propylene. The unit is planned to start up in 2023 and will have a capacity of 1 billion pounds per year.
To be located in the company's Cedar Bayou facility, the C3 splitter will convert refinery- grade mixture of propylene and propane into high purity propylene, Chevron Phillips said. Site construction is planned to begin in January 2022, with the operational startup in 2023. The company picked S&B Engineers and Constructors (Houston, Texas) to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for the project.
