Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The examination meeting for the project application report for State Grid Xinyuan Holding Company Limited's (Beijing) Wendeng Pump-Storage Power Station was held in Wendeng City, in the Shandong province, from July 3 to 5, 2013, according to an announcement from the State Grid Corporation of China (Beijing) on July 5. The meeting was organized by China International Engineering Consultancy Corporation (CIECC) (Beijing).
During the meeting, the project application report prepared by HydroChina Beijing Engineering Corporation (Beijing) passed an examination from an expert panel.
The Wendeng Pump Storage Power Station, located at Liulinzhuang, Jieshi Town of Wendeng City, is about 35 kilometers from downtown Wendeng. The project is planned to have six single-stage Francis pump reversible hydraulic turbine generating units, with a total installed capacity of 1,800 megawatts (MW). The upper reservoir of the project is located at the Gongyuanzi Ditch, and the lower reservoir is located at the tributary of Ximuzhu River, which is about 100 meters upstream of Liulinzhuang. The power station will have a designed head of 471 meters, with an annual power generating utilization of 1,506 hours and an annual pumping utilization of 2,008 hours. The comprehensive efficiency of the power station is 0.75. The total investment in the project will be about $1.33 billion.
As reported, construction on the project is expected to take 76 months, of which the construction period to the commissioning of the first unit is expected to take 58 months. Early in November 2010, the feasibility study report passed an examination jointly organized by the General Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Planning and Design, and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Upon completion, the project will be connected to Shandong grid via two circuits of 500-kilovolt (KV) outgoing transmission lines.
Among the leaders and representatives who attended the meeting were Huang Feng, the vice president of the CIECC; Zhang Zhenyou, the vice president of State Grid Xinyuan; and Luan Bo, the mayor of Wendeng City.
