China Sees Rise in Large Operational Coal Mines, an Industrial Info Market Brief

The number of operational coal mines, each with a production capacity of 10 million metric tons per year (MMT/yr) or more, has reached 52, the China Coal Industry Association said recently. These coal mines have a total approved production capacity of 821 MMT/yr, accounting for about a fifth of the nation's total capacity.

The mines are located in seven provinces (regions). This includes 21 mines with a total capacity of 391 MMT/yr in Inner Mongolia, 15 mines (210 MMT/yr) in Shaanxi, eight mines (133 MMT/yr) in Shanxi, three mines (30 MMT/yr) in Xinjiang, two mines (24 MMT/yr) in Ningxai, two mines (23.3 MMT/yr) in Anhui, and one mine (10 MMT/yr) in Yunnan.
