China's Import and Export Value Increases 39% in April

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In April 2010, the import and export value in China reached $238.16 billion, a rise of 39.4% year over year. Export values reached $119.92 billion, an increase of 30.5% year over year. Import values reached $118.24 billion, a jump of 49.7% year over year. The surplus in trade reached $1.68 billion, a drop of 87% year over year, the General Customs Administration of China announced on May 10, 2010.

From January through April 2010, the import and export values in China reached $855.99 billion, a rise of 42.7% over the same period last year. The export value reached $436.05 billion, an increase of 29.2% year over year. The import value reached $419.94billion, a jump of 60.1% year over year. The accumulative surplus in trade reached $16.11 billion, a drop of 78.6% year over year.

From January through April 2010, the import and export value of general trade jumped to $429.05 billion, an increase of 46% year over year. Of this, the export value reached $194.88 billion, an increase of 27.2%. The import value reached $234.17 billion, a jump of 66.4% year over year. The deficit under general trade reached $39.29 billion, while the surplus under general trade in the same period of 2009 was $12.48 billion.

From January to April 2010, the import and export value of processing trade jumped to $333.16 billion, an increase of 37.7% year over year. Export value reached $208.87 billion, an increase of 30%; the import value reached $124.29 billion, a jump of 52.9% year over year. The surplus under processing trade reached $84.58 billion, an increase of 520% from last year.

From January to April 2010, the European Union remained the primary trading partner with China. Bilateral trade with the EU reached $137.77 billion, an increase of 34.6% year over year. The trade value with the United States reached $107.18 billion, an increase of 25% year over year. The trade value with Japan reached $88.66 billion, an increase of 25% year over year; the trade value with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) jumped to $87.09 billion, an increase of 58.5% year over year. Exports to the ASEAN reached $40.61 billion, an increase of 45.6% year over year. Imports from the ASEAN jumped to $46.48 billion, an increase of 71.7%.

From January to April 2010, the import of major bulk commodities showed an rise in the average prices. The import volume of iron ore reached 210 million metric tons, an increase of 11.6% year over year. The average price of iron ore was $100.3 per ton, up 27.2% year over year. The import of soya reached 15.23 million metric tons, an increase of 9.9% year over year. The average price was $452.1 per ton, up 13.3%.

From January through April 2010, the import value of mechanical and electrical products reached $192.98 billion, a jump of 48.2%. Of this, the import of vehicles reached 254,000 sets, an increase of 170%.
