China's Imports and Exports Jump 45.2% from February 2009

The export value reached $94.52 billion, an increase of 45.7% year over year; the import value reached $86.91 billion, a jump of 44.7% year over year, the General Customs Administration of China announced on March 10.

Of this, the export value reached $204.08 billion, an increase of 31.4% year over year; the import value reached $182.32 billion, a jump of 63.6% year over year, and the accumulative surplus in trade reached $21.76 billion, a drop of 50.4% year over year.
From January to February 2010, the import and export values of general trade jumped to $198.47 billion, an increase of 52.1% year over year. The export value reached $95.83 billion, an increase of 34.2%; the import value reached $102.64 billion, a jump of 73.5% year over year.
From January to February 2010, the import and export values of the processing trades rose to $145.92 billion, an increase of 35.4% year over year. The export value reached $92.95 billion, an increase of 26.9%; the import value reached $52.97 billion, a jump of 53.4% year over year.
From January through February 2010, the European Union was China's primary trade partner, and the bilateral trade value reached $65.53 billion, an increase of 34.5% year over year. The trade value with the United States reached $49.32 billion, an increase of 25.1% year over year. The bilateral trade value with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) jumped to $39.12 billion, an increase of 66% year over year. Of this, exports to ASEAN reached $18.69 billion, an increase of 52.9% year over year; and imports from ASEAN jumped to $20.43 billion, up 80.2%. The bilateral trade value with Japan reached $37.97 billion, an increase of 33% year over year.
From January through February 2010, the import volume of major bulk commodities showed an increase in different level with an obvious rise in the average price. Of which, the import of iron ore reached 96.07 million metric tons, an increase of 21% year over year, and the average price was $93 per ton, up 16.6% year over year. The import of soya reached 7.03 million metric tons, an increase of 11.7% year over year, and the average price was $462.6 per ton, up 16.6%.
From January through February 2010, the import value of mechanical and electrical products reached $81.97 billion, a jump of 45.8%. The import of vehicles reached 94,000 units, an increase of 110%.
