China's Mining Investments for January-October Fall 21% from Year Earlier
Mining investments in China for the period of January through October dropped 20.9% from the same 10 months in 2016.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Mining investments in China for the period of January through October dropped 20.9% to $129.94 billion from the same 10 months in 2015, according to the National Bureau of Statistics of China. This included $80.58 billion in private sector investments for the first 10 months of this year, a 13.2% decrease.
Investments in coal mining and washing totaled $39.44 billion for January through October, a 23.6% drop. This included a 17.8% drop in private investments to $23.96 billion.
Total investments in petroleum and natural gas extraction fell 34.7% to $26.11 billion. Private investments fell 5.8% to $3.35 billion.
Total investments in the mining, smelting and pressing of ferrous metals dropped 28.7% to $13.21 billion. Private investments fell 35.4% to $10.38 billion.
Total investments in mining, smelting and pressing for non-ferrous metals dropped 8.7% to $19.02 billion. This included $13.82 billion in private investments, a drop of 6.0%.
Spending for the mining and processing of non-metallic minerals (not including coal) dropped 1.3% to $27.02 billion. Private investments fell 1.7% to $25.54 billion.
Overall investment in fixed assets (excluding rural households) for the first 10 months of this year reached $7.57 trillion, an increase of 8.3%. This included $4.65 trillion in private sector investments, up 2.9%.
By industry group, investments in primary-sector industries (agriculture, forestry, fishing, mining and oil and gas production) from January through October July reached $240.1 billion, an increase of 22% over the same period of 2015.
Secondary industry investments reached $2.9 trillion, up 2.9%. This included nearly $2.4 trillion for industrial manufacturing, up 3.1%. Investments in the production and supply of electric power, heat power, gas and water reached $379.65 billion, an increase of 13.9%.
Tertiary industry (services) investments totaled $4.4 trillion, up 11.5 8%. Infrastructure investments (excluding electric power, heat power, gas and water) reached nearly $1.5 trillion, a jump of 19.4%
