Chongqing Energy Invites Bids on Survey, Engineering Services for Coal-Fired Project in Hami

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Chongqing Energy Xinjiang Coal & Power Company Limited (Hami, Xinjiang), a subsidiary of Chongqing Energy Investment Group (Chongqing), issued an invitation for bids on survey and engineering services for the Hami Power Plant's 1,320-megawatt (MW) Phase I project, via Beijing Guodian Engineering Tendering Company Limited (Beijing), on April 26, 2011.

The scope of this tender covers all survey, design and related services during various stages, such as preliminary engineering (including the preparation of the design budget), detailed engineering, and commissioning.

The proposed Hami Power Plant is at the south of Chongqing Energy's Coal Mine No.1 in Daquanwan Town, in Hami City. The site is east of the industrial field of the coal mine, and north of the access road and railway station in the mining zone. The Phase I project will be built with two 660-megawatt (MW), ultra-supercritical, air-cooling, coal-fired units, together with limestone/plaster west process for flue-gas desulfuration and selective-catalytic reduction for flue-gas denitration. Total investment in the project will be about $730 million.

A feasibility study of the project passed the examination of the expert panel, which was organized by China International Engineering Consultancy Corporation (Beijing) in February this year. Xinjiang Environmental Protection Technology Consulting Center, under the mandate of Chongqing Energy, is conducting the environmental impact assessment for the project. Invitation for public participation in the assessment was issued last month.

According to the schedule, the bids for the survey and engineering service will be opened in June 2011. Construction of the project is expected to kick off later this year. Both units are expected to begin operation in 2014.
