Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Cinergy Corporation (NYSE:CIN) (Cincinnati, Ohio) is performing planning and scheduling for the Unit #2 generator upgrade at the East Bend Power Station in the spring of 2005 for the duration of two months. The East Bend Power Station is located in Boone County, Rabbit Hash, Kentucky. Unit #2 is a 648-megawatt coal-fired unit, with a Siemens Westinghouse tandem-compound turbine and generator set, powered by a Babcock & Wilcox opposed-fired dry bottom boiler. Unit #2 is the only operational unit at the site and became operational in 1981.
While East Bend is the only Cinergy-owned power plant in Kentucky, Cinergy also owns several large coal-fired power stations in neighboring states, such as the 3,340-megawatt Gibson Power Station (Owensville, Indiana), the 1,182-megawatt Cayuga Power Station (Cayuga, Indiana), and the 1, 394-megawatt Zimmer Power Station (Moscow, Ohio).
