CNNC Plans to Build More Nuclear Power Projects in Fujian

The Preparation Office for the Fujian Sanming Nuclear Power Project was established in Fuzhou off the east coast of Fujian on May 11, 2007, as announced by China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). Yu Jianfeng, Vice-President of CNNC, and Su Zengtian, Deputy Governor of Fujian attended and addressed those in attendance at the unveiling ceremony. Qian Tianlin, Vice Director of the Planning Department of CNNC, and Ye Jige, Party Secretary of CPCs Sanming Municipal Committee unveiled the Preparation Office. Related leaders and staff from the Development and Reform Commission of Fujian Province, the Nuclear Power Office of Fujian, the Peoples Government of Sanming, as well as the Planning Department and Nuclear Power Department of CNNC, Fujian Investment and Development Corporation, China Nuclear Engineering Corporation also attended the unveiling ceremony. Fujian Sanming Nuclear Power Project is to be jointly invested by CNNC, Fujian Investment and Development Corporation and Sanming City.
The signing ceremony for the joint development of Fujian Putian Nuclear Power Project between CNNC, Fujian Investment and Development Corporation and Putian City was held the same day in Fuzhou. Related leaders and staff from the Development and Reform Commission of Fujian Province, the Nuclear Power Office of Fujian Province, the Peoples Government of Putian City, as well as the Planning Department, Nuclear Power Department of CNNC, Fujian Investment and Development Corporation, China Nuclear Engineering Corporation attended the signing ceremony. CNNC will spare no effort to carry out the pre-stage preparation work of nuclear power projects in Fujian under the active support of the local government, and wish that the local government at each level will continue to support CNNC as before and to further enhance the cooperation between all parties in all aspects. CNNC has three nuclear power projects currently under construction or preparation in Fujian. The pre-stage preparation of the Sanming and Putian nuclear power projects will be based on Fujian Fuqing Nuclear Power Company, Limited, a subsidiary of CNNC specially established on May 16, 2006, for the construction and operation of the Fuqing Nuclear Power Project, another nuclear power project currently under construction preparation in Fujian Province.
