Reports related to this article:

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Columbia Gas Transmission LLC (Houston, Texas), a subsidiary of Columbia Pipeline Group Incorporated and Columbia Pipeline Partners LP, recently placed into service the East Side Expansion pipeline project in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Industrial Info is tracking $1.61 billion in active projects across the U.S. involving Columbia Gas Transmission.

The East Side project involves the construction of two pipeline segments, each 9.5 miles long and designed to transport up to 312 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas. A 26-inch-diameter segment runs from Upper Uwchlan, Pennsylvania, to a compressor station in West Bradford, Pennsylvania, while a 20-inch-diameter segment runs from Gloucester County, New Jersey, to a receipt point in Newark, New Jersey.

Columbia also performed modifications and upgrades at two compressor station facilities in Pennsylvania: the Easton Compressor Station in Northampton County, and the Milford Compressor Station in Pike County. The Easton project involved adding two turbine-driven compressor gas packages, each with a capacity of 10,802 horsepower, to accommodate bi-directional flow capabilities and additional gas flow; the Milford project added two similar turbines, each with 4,700 horsepower.

Gulf Interstate Engineering Company (Houston) performed engineering services on both pipeline segments, and performed design-engineering services on both compressor-station projects. Price Gregory International (Houston) worked as general contractor on the Pennsylvania segment, and Associated Pipe Line Contractors Incorporated (Houston) worked as general contractor on the New Jersey segment.
