Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The kick-off ceremony of Datang Shandong Clean Energy Company Limited's (DSCEC) (Qingdao, Shandong) Dongping Windfarm was held in Xingdianpu Village in Tai'an City, in the Shandong province, on November 11, 2011. Du Daqing, the general manager of the DSCEC, among other leaders and representatives, attended the ceremony. The construction of the windfarm has now begun, China Datang Corporation (Beijing), announced on November 14, 2011.
"As the first windfarm in the Tai'an region, construction of the project will not only optimize the structure of local power sources, but will greatly promote the local economic development in Dongping," said Du Daqing at the ceremony.
Dongping Windfarm is within the boundaries of Jiuxian Town and Laohu Town, covering an area of about 45.8 square kilometers in Dongping County. The project was approved by the Development and Reform Commission of Shandong province on December 31, 2010. According to the approval, the project will have an installed capacity of 49.5 megawatts (MW) and will be furnished with 33 wind turbines, each of 1.5 MW. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply about 94 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy to the grid each year. Compared with a conventional thermal power plant, the project could save about 32,000 metric tons of standard coal, and reduce the emission of about 75,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide and 385 metric tons of sulfur oxide every year.
When the project is completed, it will be connected with the phases II and III of China Datang's Pingyin Windfarm in Jinan City, which could see stronger benefits from a large-scale facility.
As a fully owned subsidiary of Datang Shandong Power Generation Company Limited (Jinan, Shandong) that was established in October 2010, the DSCEC currently has a total installed capacity of 198 MW of windfarms in operation, with another 297 MW of windfarms under construction in Shandong. In addition to those windfarms in Shandong, the wind power business of the DSCEC has extended out of Shandong to regions such as Zhejiang, Inner Mongolia and Ningxia. So far, the DSCEC has a total planned wind power capacity of about 8.8 gigawatts.
