Construction of China Datang's 600-Megawatt Cogeneration Project Begins in Hebei Province

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Construction of China Datang's Zhangjiakou Heat and Power cogeneration project has been officially started, China Datang Corporation (Beijing) announced on October 14. The project, located in Zhangjiakou city in northern China's Hebei province, will be built and invested by Datang International Power Generation Company Limited (SHA:601991) (Beijing), the listed flagship of China Datang Corporation.

The project will be furnished with two 300-megawatt subcritical coal-fired units together with an electrostatic dust-removing device and wet-method desulfurization device in Phase I. Upon completion, the project will be capable of providing concentrated heat supply for an area of 12 million square meters, which could replace a large number of small heat supply boilers scattered throughout the urban area currently, saving about 30,000 metric tons of coal every year.

With the utilization of intermediate water from an urban sewage processing plant, the project could realize zero sewage emission in its production process. All electricity produced from the project will be consumed locally. The project will be a typical example in resource saving and environment protection.

Presently, various construction preparations for the project are going smoothly. According to the schedule, underground civil construction will finish soon and erection of the steel beam for the boiler will be complete by the end of this year. Equipment commissioning will begin in June 2009 and be ready to supply heat prior the winter of 2009. Both units will begin commercial operation by the end of 2009.
