Researched by Industrial Information Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Construction on a new production plant and distribution center in Albany, Oregon by The Gatorade Company, part of QTG (Chicago, Illinois), a division of PepsiCo Incorporated (NYSE:PEP ) (Purchase, New York), has been put on hold because of market conditions on its energy drink, company officials said.
Although questions are being raised whether the $250 million investment will ever proceed, Gatorade officials said the company intends to build the facilities. An announcement is expected early next year on project's progress. Meanwhile, IIR is monitoring 424 other projects in the U.S and Canada totaling $8.8 billion in the Food and Beverage Industry.
Gatorade is part of QTG (Quaker, Tropicana and Gatorade), the nation's leading sports drink brand, and a division of PepsiCo. Gatorade has nine factories.
