CPCIA Issues Monthly Report on China's Petroleum and Chemical Industry for August 2009

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The production value of China's Petroleum and Chemical industries reached $84.58 billion in August this year, a drop of 6.2% compared with the value of $90.13 billion in the same period last year. From January through August 2009, the cumulative production value reached $592.76 billion, a drop of 9.6% compared with the value of $655.80 billion in the same period last year, according to the monthly report issued by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association (CPCIA) on September 17.

The production value of the natural gas exploitation industry reached $9.65 billion in August, a drop of 37.4% compared with the value of $15.4 billion in the same period of last year. The production value of the oil refining industry reached $23.13 billion in August, a drop of 12.1% compared with the value of $26.3 billion in the same period last year. From January through August 2009, the cumulative production value of natural gas reached $64.45 billion, a drop of 39.5% compared with the value of $106.48 billion in the same period last year; that of oil refining reached $157.03 billion in August, a drop of 14.7% compared with the value of $184.04 billion in the same period last year.

In August 2009, China's crude oil output reached 16.32 million metric tons, an increase of 1.6% compared with 16.06 million metric tons in the same period last year. Natural gas reached 7.11 billion cubic meters, an increase of 7.8% compared with 6.6 billion cubic meters in the same period of last year. Refined products reached 19.98 million metric tons, an increase of 9.8% compared with 18.20 million metric tons in the same period last year.

From January to August 2009, the cumulative crude oil output reached 126 million metric tons, a drop of 0.6% year over year, while natural gas reached 56.27 billion cubic meters, an increase of 8.1% year over year. Refined products reached 146.7 million metric tons, an increase of 6.2% year over year.
