Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The resettlement of China Three Gorges Corporation's (CTGC) (Beijing) Xiluodu Hydropower Station passed the examination of an expert panel and received approval from the Acceptance Commission on April 23, 2013, during a working conference held in Chengdu, under the organization of the Sichuan Provincial Resettlement Administration. This means that the Xilluodu Hydropower Station is ready to begin reservoir impounding, according to an announcement from the CTGC on April 24.

The Xiluodu Hydropower Station, which is located at the boundary between Leibo County of the Sichuan province and Yongshan County of the Yunnan province, is the second large hydropower project developed by CTGC on the Changjiang River. The project mainly comprises a 278-meter-high concrete double curvature arch dam; the spillway; the power diversion works; and the two underground powerhouses that are located at both banks. It has a total planned capacity of 13.86 gigawatts (GW), including 18 large hydraulic turbine generating units, each of 770 megawatts (MW). The left-bank underground powerhouse and the right-bank underground powerhouse each are furnished with nine units.

Prior to the acceptance meeting, the secondary concrete placement for all eight low-level outlets on the main dam of the project was completed on April 20, 2013. After four months of work, the last bucket of concrete placement for the diversion tunnel blocking was completed on April 21.

So far, all intake gates of the left-bank power station have been completed. Both civil works and metal structure installation for the discharge tunnel also have been completed. According to the schedule, the first unit of the project is expected to begin operation in June 2013.
