Exxon to Sell Torrance Refinery - Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XMO) (Irving, Texas) has announced that it will sell its Torrance Refinery in California to PBF Energy Incorporated (NYSE:PBF) (Parsipanny, New Jersey).
PRODUCTION
Mexico Awards Three Offshore Blocks in Auction - Mexico awarded three of five available production-sharing contracts for offshore blocks in the Gulf of Mexico in the second auction since the country opened its oil sector to private companies. Among the winners were Italy's Eni SpA (NYSE:E) (Rome) and a consortium that includes Houston-based Fieldwood, Energy.

Bill to Lift Oil Export Ban Passes Senate Committee - A bill to lift the existing U.S. ban on crude oil exports passed the Senate Banking Committee on Thursday; however, an amendment to make Iran compensate U.S. victims of Iranian terrorism was tacked onto the bill, all but ensuring its demise.
U.S. Becomes Net Oil Exporter to Mexico for First Time in 20 Years - Data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration shows that U.S. net exports of crude oil to Mexico, all in the form of petroleum products, were a net 48,000 barrels per day in July. This is the first time the U.S. has been a net exporter to the country in more than 20 years.

Kinder Morgan's Northeast Energy Direct Pipeline Picks Up More Gas Capacity Commitments - Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company (TGP), a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan Incorporated (NYSE:KMI) (Houston, Texas), recently agreed to supply up to 627,000 dekatherms per day (Dth/d) of gas for the Supply Path component of the proposed Northeast Energy Direct (NED) pipeline project. TGP will link Pennsylvania's booming natural gas fields to existing and future markets in the Northeast and New England regions.

Massive Panoche Valley Solar Project Begins Construction in California - Construction of one the world's biggest solar power plants is under way. The 247-megawatt Panoche Valley Solar Project is located in San Benito County, California. The project is owned by Panoche Valley Solar LLC (Menlo Park, California).
