U.S. Firms Cut Oil Rigs for Fifth Week - Baker Hughes reports that for the week ending October 2, the number of rigs drilling for oil in the U.S. declined by 26 to 614. This is the fifth straight week of rig declines and the largest weekly decline since April.
PIPELINES
Construction Begins on West Texas Crude Gathering Pipeline - Oryx Midstream Services (Midland, Texas) says that it has begun construction on a new crude oil gathering pipeline in the southern Delaware Basin in Texas. The project includes 300 miles of gathering line and 100 of transport line.
Phillips 66's Bayou Bridge Pipeline Seeks Customers for $300 Million Second Phase, as First Begins to Wrap Up - Bayou Bridge Pipeline LLC is looking for customers. The crude-oil pipeline, which runs from Nederland, Texas, to Louisiana's booming refining markets on the Gulf Coast, recently launched a binding expansion open season to assess customer interest in its transportation services.
Odebrect Lines Up Loans for Peru Pipeline - Odebrecht (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) says that it has lined up more than $4 billion of loans for work on Peru's Southern Gas Pipeline, which will carry approximately 500 million cubic feet per day of natural gas to Peru's southern coast.

Oil Tanker Rates More Than $100,000 per Day on Strong China Bookings - Oil supertankers are earning more than $100,000 per day to transport their product due to tight demand, much of which seems to be coming from Chinese bookings to collect oil from areas such as the Middle East and West Africa.
