U.S. Oil Drillers Add Rigs - The number of rigs drilling for oil in the U.S. increased by six for the week ending September 29, to 750. (Reuters)
U.S. Oil Output Up in July - U.S. crude oil production rose to a 9.24 million barrels day (BBL/d) in July, an increase of 141,000 BBL/d, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said on Friday. (Reuters)

Georgia Power Receives Additional Loan Guarantees for Vogtle Units - Georgia Power announced Friday that it has reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy for a conditional commitment of approximately $1.67 billion in additional loan guarantees for the Plant Vogtle nuclear expansion project near Waynesboro, Georgia. (Project 17001442)
Perry Urges FERC to Help Coal, Nuclear Plants - Energy Secretary Rick Perry urged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Friday to make sweeping changes to national electricity rates to prevent any further closures of coal and nuclear plants. Perry is asking FERC to change current regulations so power plants would be compensated not only for the electricity they sell onto the grid but also for their "reliability and resiliency." OPEC's September Output Up as Iraq, Libya Pump More - OPEC oil output rose in September by 50,000 barrels per day, a Reuters survey found, as Iraqi exports increased and production edged higher in Libya, one of the producers exempt from a supply-cutting deal. (Reuters)
