Enbridge to Purchase Spectra Energy
- Enbridge Incorporated (NYSE:ENB) (Calgary, Alberta) has agreed to buy natural gas infrastructure company Spectra Energy Corporation (NYSE:SE) (Houston, Texas) for $28 billion in a stock-for-stock transaction. The deal is expected to close in the first three months of next year.

EOG to Snaps Up Permian Acreage in Purchase - EOG Resources Incorporated (NYSE:EOG) (Houston, Texas) will acquire privately held Yates Petroleum Corporation (Artesia, New Mexico) for $2.5 billion , in the latest move by a U.S. energy company to acquire acreage in the Permian Basin.

PRODUCTION
Shell Begins Production at Deepwater Gulf Site
- Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE:RDS-A) (The Hague, Netherlands) says it has begun production at its Stones development, located about 200 miles southwest of New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico. The project is expected to produce 50,000 barrels a day oil equivalent when operating at full capacity by the end of 2017.

NATURAL GAS
U.S. Gas Trades at Two-Week Low
- U.S. natural gas futures slid to a two-week low on Tuesday as forecasts called for cooler temperatures than originally forecast across the U.S. Prices slid to $2.709, the lowest since August 23.

REFINING
Refineries Unable to Receive Oil from Tankers After Part of Houston Ship Channel Shut
- Four Houston-area refineries were unable to receive crude oil from tankers on Tuesday after a portion of the Houston Ship Channel was shut due to a fire aboard an empty tanker, the U.S. Coast Guard said. The refineries include those owned by Valero (NYSE:VLO), LyondellBasell Industries (NYSE:LYB), Petrobras (NYSE:PBR) and Shell. (Plants: 1001002, 1014506, 1000052, 1000066)
