Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Dean Foods Company (NYSE:DF) (Dallas, Texas), through subsidiary WhiteWave Foods Company (Broomfield, Colorado), has begun the construction of a food manufacturing plant in Oak Cliff, a neighborhood of Dallas. Formerly an Americana Foods yogurt plant, Dean is retrofitting the facility to manufacture dairy and non-dairy products for its increasingly popular WhiteWave-Alpro Foods line.
The company is investing $85 million in the project and expects to hire as many as 100 workers when fully operational. WhiteWave anticipates the project to be complete by the first quarter of next year.
Located on 18 acres in southwest Oak Cliff, the site includes an existing 190,000-square-foot building, which is being fully renovated. The project also involves the addition of an approximately 97,000-square-foot building, plus the installation of state-of-the-art processing and packaging equipment and machinery. Hill & Wilkinson Incorporated (Richardson, Texas) is performing structural renovations and the building addition. Tetra Pak Incorporated (Vernon Hills, Illinois) was awarded the turn-key contract for the equipment.
Established in 2004, WhiteWave Foods Company produces and markets dairy and dairy alternatives in the U.S. grocery and natural foods channels. Its products include soymilk, flavored liquid creamers, organic milk, creams, yogurt, cheese, butter, sour creams, cottage cheese and coffee creamers.
