Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Expansion of plants that manufacture aircraft parts and auxiliary equipment are on the rise in the U.S. due to increasing sales of commercial airplanes by industry leaders, such as The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) (Chicago, Illinois) and Embraer (NYSE:ERJ) (Sao Jose does Campos, Brazil). Industrial Info is tracking 51 projects valued at $3.3 billion that involve U.S. aircraft parts & auxiliary equipment parts manufacturing plants.

Boeing had a record year in 2014, with $152 billion in net orders, delivering 195 commercial airplanes. For this year to date, Boeing has 380 new orders. At Boeing's site in North Charleston, South Carolina, Gulf Stream Construction Company (Charleston, South Carolina) is building a two-bay paint facility, which is expected to be completed in April 2016. The project has a total investment value of $120 million.

Boeing's most dramatic construction project is located in Everett, Washington, where Hoffman Construction (Portland, Oregon) has been contracted to build a 1.3 million-square-foot composite wing manufacturing plant. Located on a 100-acre site, the $1 billion project is slated to reach completion in May 2016. The plant will make wings for the 777x passenger airplane.

Embraer Executive Aircraft Limited LLC will begin construction this November on a 75,000-square-foot aircraft seat manufacturing plant in Titusville, Florida. The $24 million project is set for completion in October 2016.

MAAS Aviation (Hamburg, Germany) will begin construction this October on a twin bay maintenance, repair and overhaul paint facility in Mobile, Alabama. The project has a total investment value of $39 million. An official supplier to Airbus (Blagnac, France), MAAS is one of Europe's leading aircraft painting companies.
