Russia Lifts Lockdown on China-Designated Gas Field - Local authorities have fully lifted the coronavirus-related quarantine at Russia's Chayandinskoye natural gas field, the source of the country's first pipeline gas supplies to China, the coronavirus response center said on Monday. The lockdown at the field in the eastern Yakutia region was introduced in mid-April to contain the spread of the coronavirus. The Siberian gas field was launched in December to move gas supplies via pipeline to China for the first time. (Reuters)

Canada's Suncor CEO Sees Electric Vehicles Disrupting Oil Market as Much as Coronavirus - The shift to electric vehicles and other low-carbon technologies could disrupt crude oil demand on a similar scale to the coronavirus pandemic, Suncor Energy Incorporated's (NYSE:SU) Chief Executive Mark Little said on Monday. "The temporary economic lockdown triggered by the 2020 pandemic is giving us a glimpse into a not-too-distant future where the transformation of our energy system could disrupt demand on a similar scale," he said.
