The following is an advisory by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Duke Energy North America (Houston, Texas), an affiliate of Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) (Charlotte, North Carolina), has completed construction and startup testing of the 620 megawatt (MW) Fayette Generating Station in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The $420 million merchant plant will generate electricity for sale to the wholesale power market in the Northeast.
The natural gas fired electric generating plant is located on a 300-acre site along the Monongahela River in Masontown. The plant will operate in a combined-cycle configuration utilizing two GE Frame 7FA gas turbines generators, two Aalborg duct fired heat recovery steam generators, and a single GE D11 double-flow condensing steam turbine generator.
The Fayette generating station was constructed by Duke Energy affiliate Duke/Fluor Daniel (D/FD), who provided engineering, procurement, and construction services.
Duke Energy employs approx 25,000 people worldwide and generated revenues of over $15.5 billion in 2002. Duke is also the largest producer of natural gas liquids (NGL), and one of the top ten power generators in the United States.
