Huadian Ningdong Windfarm is one of the windfarms planned by Ningxia Autonomous Region with a planned installation capacity of 150 megawatts. The 45 MW Phase I project received approval from the Development and Reform Commission of Ningxia Autonomous Region in December 2006. Construction of Phase I began in April 2007, and is expected to be put into operation by the end of this year.

The Phase II project is adjacent to Phase I, and the annual power output is about 100 million kWh. Compared with thermal power plants with the same power output, about 39,000 metric tons of standard coal can be saved from the project every year, about 852.8 tons of flue gas discharge, 614.87 tons of SO2, 347.44 tons of oxides of nitrogen discharge, and 115,000 tons of CO2 discharge can be reduced every year. The project has an active impact to the improvement of the environment.
