Eleven U.S. Biofuel Production Plants Expanding

Eleven U.S. Biofuel Production Plants Expanding

According to data extracted from Industrial Info’s ethanol production package, eleven biofuels plants that include both ethanol and biodiesel production facilities, have been identified as expanding, expanded or planning expansions in the near future.

Patriot Biofuels in Stuttgart, Arkansas began biodiesel production in April 2006, and is planning to begin construction on a $7 million expansion to its plant in early 2007. Once complete, the plant will have the capacity of producing 13 million gallons of biodiesel annually when the addition goes online in the fall of 2007.

ADM announced plans to expand its plants in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Columbus, Nebraska by adding 250 million gallons of annual capacity to both plants. Construction is expected to be complete by mid-2008,

Glacial Lakes Energy’s Aberdeen Energy plant in Watertown, South Dakota announced plans to expand their 50 million-gallon per year plant to 100 million gallons annually and construction is expected to be complete in early 2007.

Heartland Grain Fuels in Huron, South Dakota is wrapping up expansion activity and plans to have 30 million gallons of capacity operating by the end of 2006.

Up in Canada, Husky Oil’s Minnedosa, Manitoba plant is expanding to 30 million gallons as well and hopes to have the additional capacity online by mid-2007.

Northern Lights Ethanol in Big Stone City, South Dakota is expanding from 50 million gallons per year to 75 million gallons annually. Construction is expected to be complete in the summer of 2007.

Otter Creek Ethanol announced plans to expand its Ashton, Iowa plant to 100 million gallons annually with completion scheduled for the spring of 2007.

Platte Valley Fuel Ethanol is set to wrap up construction on an expansion project that will take the size of this plant to 100 million gallons annually. Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of November 2006.

Wyoming Ethanol in Torrington, Wyoming also completed an expansion and now has the capacity of producing 12 million gallons of ethanol annually and Xethanol Biofuels in Blairstown, Iowa recently began an expansion to increase the capacity of that plant to 40 million gallons annually and should wrap up by the fall of 2007.
