Environmental Structures - Building Tomorrow’s Food Industry Today

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Privately held food plant builder, Environmental Structures, Incorporated (Hartland, Wisconsin), knows where the beef is, as well as how to build beef processing, packing, and storage facilities. The company makes a living planning, engineering, and constructing food processing and storage facilities, exclusively, making Environmental Structures a valuable commodity when food-related companies go looking for expertise and a solid contractor to build or expand a food processing plant.

Some of the company’s biggest clients are major players in the highly competitive food processing industry and require the best and most cost effective contractors to keep a schedule and a project at or under budget. The list includes SYSCO, ConAgra, Smithfield, Kraft, Del Monte, Alliant Foodservice, U.S. Foodservice, and Martin-Brower, just to name a few.

The company recently completed a $20 million 120,700 square-foot distribution facility for SYSCO in Post Falls, Idaho. SYSCO is already talking about expanding the facility after a successful target level of processing volume was achieved.

Environmental Structures also recently completed a $13.5 million 96,000 square-foot expansion project for Distribution Plus in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

In May of 2005, the company was summoned to Brenham, Texas, to build a grassroot $5 million 43,000 square-foot plant for salad dressing manufacturer Del Sol Food. January 2006 is the scheduled completion date for the new plant.

The world’s largest producer of pork, Smithfield Foods, has been using Environmental Structures services for a number of years. Last year, they completed a 35,000 square-foot distribution center project for Smithfield’s Patrick Cudahy division in Cudahy, Wisconsin. They are also currently building a 34,000 square-foot $13.5 million expansion for another Smithfield division, Golden Crisp Foods in Sioux Center, Iowa, which is also scheduled to be complete in January of 2006.

The latest news out of the firm is that they were also selected to build Smithfield’s new $85 million 180,000 square-foot pork processing plant in Kinston, North Carolina that just recently broke ground.

They are also scheduled to be at the 2005 AMI International World Wide Food Expo trade show running from October 26-29 in Chicago, a major event for meat, poultry and seafood industry players.

Environmental Structures, Incorporated is a national design-build firm that specifically specializes in design, engineering, and construction of building facilities relating to the food industry. Specific food expertise includes cold storage, food distribution, process facilities, and specialty food facilities. The firm’s staff consists of over 50 professionals and the corporate office is located in Hartland, Wisconsin with additional strategic regional offices on both coasts, Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Vancouver, Washington, so they can effectively provide professional services to clients on a national basis.
