Enviva Completes North Carolina Pellet Mill, with Virginia Mill Not Far Behind

The $60 million, 500,000-ton-per-year Enviva Pellets Northampton LLC mill in Garysburg broke ground in mid-2012 and is now fully operational. The $91 million, 434,000-ton-per-year Southampton mill in Franklin will follow, with a projected start-up date of August 2013.

Enviva has been busy building fuel pellet capacity in North America since 2005, and it already has operational facilities in Wiggins and Amory, Mississippi, and Ahoskie, North Carolina. The company's port operations for the shipping of product to Europe are located in Chesapeake, Virginia, and Mobile, Alabama.

With all five mills running at full capacity, Enviva will have the capacity to produce more than 1.36 million tons per year of fuel pellets that will be destined for European markets.
