E.ON Climate & Renewables Puts 175-Megawatt New Brunswick Windfarm up for Sale

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Pokeshaw windfarm, a 175-megawatt (MW) facility planned near New Bandon, New Brunswick, that was developed by Gale Force Energy, has been put up for sale by its new owner. Gale Force had been acquired by Airtricity, which in turn was acquired by E.ON Climate & Renewables (Toronto, Ontario), a subsidiary of E.ON AG (OTC:EONGY) (Duesseldorf, Germany).

In April 2007, E.ON Climate & Renewables completed system impact studies on the windfarm with New Brunswick System Operator (Fredericton, New Brunswick), a nonprofit organization, to interconnect with the electrical grid. The project would take about one year to construct, potentially utilizing 70 to 117 1.5-MW to 2.5-MW wind turbine/generator sets.

E.ON Climate & Renewables currently has about 20 projects for nearly 3,000 MW in development in Canada, with the majority of them located in western Canada. About half of the projects are currently on hold, primarily because of the need for power-purchase agreements to make them economically viable.
