Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The examination meeting for the feasibility study report of Guodian Qingsong Kuche Mining Development Company Limited (Akesu, Xinjiang) Dapingtan coal mine was held in Urumqi, the capital city of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region, under the organization of China Coal Industry Development Research Center and the Development and Reform Commission of Xinjiang Autonomous Region on October 16, 2010.
During the meeting, the expert panel heard the presentation of the feasibility study report prepared by Chongqing Design & Research Institute of China Coal International Engineering Corporation (Chongqing), particularly scrutinizing the pre-stage preparation portion of the project. After two days of review and discussion, the expert panel approved the report and offered the comments for further improvement of the report. In the next stage, Chongqing Design & Research will implement the committee's ideas into a revised version of the report.
Dapingtan Coal Mine is an underground coal mine in Kuche County with an estimated reserve of 447 million metric tons. In January 2008, Guodian Xinjiang Electric Power Company Limited (Urumqi, Xinjiang), a regional subsidiary of China Guodian Corporation (Beijing), signed the joint venture agreement with Xinjiang Qingsong Building Materials & Chemicals (Group) Company Limited (Akesu, Xinjiang) (SHA:600425) to develop the coal mine in phases with a total investment of about $160 million. The initial production capacity will be 900,000 metric tons per year. The final production capacity will be 2.4 million metric tons per year.
Construction of the coal mine mainly entails construction of the main shaft, an auxiliary shaft and a ventilation shaft. Groundbreaking for the project kicked off earlier this year. So far, site-leveling, construction of an access road, and the supplies of electricity and water have been completed. Contractors for the main shaft, auxiliary shaft and ventilation shaft have been selected. According to the schedule, the project will begin operation by the end of next year.
