First Steam Generator for CNNC's Fuqing Nuclear Power Project Passes Factory Acceptance Test

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The first steam generator at China National Nuclear Corporation's (CNNC) (Beijing) Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant project has passed the factory acceptance test, CNNC announced on September 6.

The factory acceptance test was carried out by the acceptance team jointly established by CNNC subsidiaries China Nuclear Power Engineering Company Limited (Beijing), the general contractor of the project; Fujian Fuqing Nuclear Power Company Limited (Fuqing, Fujian), the project owner; and the Nuclear Power Institute of China. The test kicked off on August 29. After four days of testing, the acceptance team finally concluded that the steam generator was satisfactory and qualified for operation.

Fuqing Nuclear Power Station is located at Qianxue Village, Sanshan Town of Fuqing City, in the Fujian province. The plant will have six 1,000-megawatt nuclear power reactors and will require a total investment of nearly $14 billion. The project will use improved second-generation pressurized water reactor technology. Phase I construction began in November 2008.

According to the schedule, units 1 and 2 of the project are expected to begin operations in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
