France Plans Solar Energy Target of 100 Gigawatts by 2050

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--France's President Emmanuel Macron recently announced an ambitious solar energy target of more than 100 gigawatts (GW) in the country's energy mix by 2050.

The French Ministry of Ecological Transition this week announced it awarded 71 ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the country accounting for 705 megawatts (MW). The projects are under its PPE2 tenders program.

France plans to install around 3.5 GW of solar PV capacity in 2022, and reach a cumulative solar capacity of 20 GW by 2023.
